BD-Bill Agee

American businessman



William McReynolds Agee (born January 5, 1938) is an American business executive known for his roles as CEO of Bendix Corporation and Morrison-Knudsen. He gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s for his rapid rise in the corporate world and his innovative management style.

Early Life and Education

William Agee was born in Boise, Idaho. He attended the University of Idaho, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1960. He later received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1963.

Career

Bendix Corporation

Agee joined Bendix Corporation in 1966 and quickly rose through the ranks. By 1976, he became the company's president and CEO at the age of 38, making him one of the youngest CEOs of a major American corporation at the time. Under his leadership, Bendix expanded its operations and pursued aggressive acquisition strategies.

Morrison-Knudsen

In 1988, Agee became the CEO of Morrison-Knudsen, a major construction and engineering firm. He led the company through a period of significant restructuring and diversification. However, his tenure was marked by financial difficulties, and he eventually resigned in 1995.

Personal Life

William Agee is married to Mary Cunningham Agee, who was also a prominent business executive. Their relationship attracted media attention in the early 1980s when Cunningham was a vice president at Bendix.

Legacy

Agee is often remembered for his rapid ascent in the corporate world and his impact on corporate management practices. His career has been the subject of various business studies and articles.
