Wikidata (pronounced: /ˈwɪkɪˌdeɪtə/) is a collaboratively edited multilingual knowledge graph hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. It provides a common source of data which can be used by Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, and by anyone else, under a public domain license.
Etymology
The term "Wikidata" is a portmanteau of the words "wiki", a type of website that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users, and "data", a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables.
