Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures is an American film distribution studio within The Walt Disney Studios, which is a division of The Walt Disney Company. The studio handles theatrical distribution, marketing, and promotion for films produced and released by the Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and Blue Sky Studios.

History

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures was originally established as Buena Vista Film Distribution Company, Inc. in 1953 by Walt Disney. The name was later changed to Buena Vista Distribution Company, Inc. in 1960. In 1987, the company was renamed Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, Inc. In 2007, the name was changed to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

The studio is responsible for the distribution of films produced by the various film production companies owned by The Walt Disney Company. This includes the marketing and promotion of these films, as well as their release in theaters worldwide.
