Walt Disney Studios is an American film studio, one of the four major business segments of the Walt Disney Company. The studio, known for its multi-faceted approach to media and entertainment, encompasses a collection of respected film production companies, including Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios.
History[edit]
Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney, Walt Disney Studios started as a small animation studio. The studio gained fame with the creation of the character Mickey Mouse, who made his debut in the short film Steamboat Willie in 1928. This success led to the expansion into feature films, with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, marking the first full-length animated feature in English and Technicolor.
Over the decades, Walt Disney Studios expanded its operations to include live-action films, television, and theme parks. The 1950s saw the introduction of Disneyland, a venture that became a global phenomenon and led to multiple theme parks worldwide.
