American professional wrestling company

WWE, Inc. (formerly known as World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.) is an American professional wrestling promotion. A global integrated media and entertainment company, WWE has also branched out into other fields, including film, American football, and various other business ventures. The company is additionally involved in licensing its intellectual property to companies to produce video games and action figures.

History

WWE was founded by Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon in 1980 as Titan Sports, Inc., which was incorporated on February 21, 1980, in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The company acquired Capitol Wrestling Corporation Ltd., the holding company for the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF), in 1982. The company was renamed World Wrestling Federation, Inc. in 1998, and then World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. in 2002. In 2011, the company rebranded itself as WWE, Inc.

Programming

WWE's main roster is divided into three primary brands: Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. Each brand has its own distinct roster, championships, and storylines. WWE's weekly television programs include Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, and NXT. WWE also produces a variety of other shows, including 205 Live, Main Event, and Total Divas.

Pay-Per-View and WWE Network

WWE produces a number of pay-per-view events each year, including WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series. These events are broadcast live and are available through traditional pay-per-view providers and the WWE Network, a subscription-based streaming service that offers on-demand access to WWE's extensive video library.

Championships
