Vivienne Cox

Vivienne Cox is a British businesswoman known for her significant contributions to the energy sector. She has held various high-ranking positions in several multinational companies, including BP and Rio Tinto.

Early Life and Education

Vivienne Cox was born and raised in the United Kingdom. She attended the University of Oxford, where she earned a degree in Chemistry. She later pursued a Master's degree in Business Administration from the INSEAD business school in France.

Career

Cox began her career at BP in 1981, where she held various roles in exploration, research and strategic planning. She eventually rose to the position of Executive Vice President and CEO of BP's gas, power and renewables business, making her one of the most influential women in the energy sector.

In 2006, Cox left BP to join Rio Tinto, a multinational metals and mining corporation. She served as a non-executive director and later became the chair of the company's remuneration committee.

Cox has also served on the boards of several other companies, including Pearson plc, Vallourec, and GlaxoSmithKline. She is currently the Chair of the Supervisory Board of Vallourec, a French multinational corporation specializing in hot rolled steel tubes.

Awards and Recognition

In 2005, Cox was named one of the "100 Most Powerful Women in Britain" by Management Today. She has also been recognized for her efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Personal Life

Cox is married and has two children. She is known for her advocacy for work-life balance and has spoken publicly about the importance of flexible working arrangements.
