Vicks VapoRub was first introduced in the United States in 1905 by Lunsford Richardson, a pharmacist in Greensboro, North Carolina. The product was named after Richardson's brother-in-law, Dr. Joshua Vick, a physician who had encouraged Richardson to experiment with new pharmaceutical products.
