The University of Victoria (UVic) is a public research university located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1963, it is one of the leading research universities in Canada, known for its innovative programs and vibrant campus life.

The University of Victoria traces its origins to Victoria College, which was founded in 1903 as an affiliate of McGill University. In 1963, it became an independent university. The university's main campus is located in the Gordon Head area of Saanich, a suburb of Victoria.
