The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) is a public university located in St. Louis, Missouri. It is one of four universities in the University of Missouri System and was established in 1963. UMSL is the largest university in the St. Louis metropolitan area and offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs.

History

The University of Missouri–St. Louis was founded in 1963 following the acquisition of the former Bellerive Country Club by the University of Missouri System. The campus has since expanded and developed into a major educational institution in the region.

Research

The university is involved in numerous research activities and has several research centers and institutes. These include the Center for Nanoscience, the Missouri Institute of Mental Health, and the Center for Transportation Studies.

The UMSL campus is located in the Normandy area of St. Louis. It features a mix of modern and historic buildings, including the Thomas Jefferson Library, the J.C. Penney Conference Center, and the Touhill Performing Arts Center.
