University of Lagos
University of Lagos (UNILAG) is a public university located in Lagos, Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria's five first-generation universities and was founded in 1962. The university has three campuses in Lagos, including its main campus at Akoka, a college of medicine at Idi-Araba, and a newly created campus at the former School of Radiography in Yaba. UNILAG is a comprehensive institution offering courses and degrees across a wide range of disciplines, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, medical sciences, and engineering.
History
The University of Lagos was established to provide manpower needs for the newly independent Nigeria. It was among the universities set up under the Nigerian government's rapid educational expansion programme.
