United Nations Medal

History
The United Nations Medal was established in 1960 to recognize the service of military personnel and police in UN peacekeeping operations. The medal is awarded to individuals who have served for a minimum period, typically six months, in a UN mission.
Design
The medal features the United Nations emblem on the obverse side. The reverse side is inscribed with the words "In the Service of Peace". The ribbon of the medal varies depending on the specific mission, with each mission having a unique ribbon design.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the United Nations Medal, personnel must have served in a UN peacekeeping mission for a specified period, usually six months. The medal is awarded to both military personnel and police who meet the criteria.
