Tribadism (pronounced: /ˈtrɪbədɪzəm/) is a sexual practice where two women rub their vulvas and clitoris together as a form of non-penetrative sex, often associated with the act of scissoring. The term is derived from the Greek word "tribas" (a woman who practices unnatural vice with herself or with other women), and "tribad" was used to indicate a woman or girl who was a lesbian or had "masculine" traits in the 20th century.

Etymology

The term "tribadism" is derived from the Greek "τριβάς" (tribas), which means "a woman who practices unnatural vice with herself or with other women," and "τριβάδες" (tribades), which was a term used in the 1st century AD by Lucian. The term was used to describe women who had "masculine" traits, including engaging in homosexual activities, in the 20th century.
