Torrance is a city located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, California, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It is one of the most populous cities in the county and is known for its moderate year-round climate, bustling economy, and numerous parks and landmarks.

History

Torrance was incorporated in 1921 and named after its founder, Jared Sidney Torrance. The city grew rapidly during the post-World War II boom, becoming a major player in the aerospace and technology industries. The city's history is preserved in the Torrance Historical Society and Museum.

Geography

Torrance is located on the Pacific coast of Southern California, bordered by the cities of Redondo Beach, Gardena, Hawthorne, and Palos Verdes Estates. The city's geography is primarily made up of residential areas, though it also contains several parks and open spaces.
