History
Tom's Restaurant was established in the 1940s by its original owner, Tom. The restaurant is located at the corner of Broadway and 112th Street in Manhattan. It has been owned and operated by the same family since its inception.

Seinfeld
Tom's Restaurant gained widespread recognition when it was featured as the exterior of Monk's Café in the popular television sitcom Seinfeld. The interior scenes were shot in a studio, but the exterior shots were of Tom's Restaurant. The restaurant has since become a popular tourist destination for fans of the show.
Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner"
In 1987, singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega released a song titled "Tom's Diner". The song is a cappella and describes Vega's observations as she has coffee at Tom's Restaurant. The song was later remixed by the British group DNA, becoming a hit in the United States and United Kingdom.
