The Virgin Suicides is a 1999 American drama film directed by Sofia Coppola in her directorial debut. The film is based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Eugenides. It stars Kirsten Dunst, Josh Hartnett, and James Woods, among others.

Plot

The film is set in the 1970s and follows the lives of the five Lisbon sisters, who are sheltered by their strict parents. The story is narrated from the perspective of a group of boys in the neighborhood who are fascinated by the sisters. As the sisters' lives take dark turns, the boys become increasingly obsessed with them.
