TC OT 39

TC OT 39 is a thermocouple type defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 60584. It is composed of Platinum-Rhodium alloy (13% Rh) as the positive leg and pure Platinum as the negative leg. This thermocouple type is often used in high temperature applications due to its high melting point and chemical inertness.

Composition

The TC OT 39 thermocouple is made up of two different metals. The positive leg is a Platinum-Rhodium alloy, with the Rhodium content being 13%. The negative leg is made of pure Platinum. This combination of metals gives the TC OT 39 its unique properties, including its high melting point and chemical inertness.

Applications

Due to its high melting point and chemical inertness, the TC OT 39 is often used in high temperature applications. These can include industrial processes such as metallurgy, ceramics production, and chemical engineering. It is also used in scientific research, particularly in studies involving high temperature reactions.

Standards

The TC OT 39 is defined by the IEC standard 60584. This standard specifies the thermoelectric voltage and the tolerances for thermocouples according to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). The standard ensures that all TC OT 39 thermocouples meet the same specifications, ensuring consistency and reliability in their use.
