Super Mario
Super Mario is a series of platform games created by Nintendo, featuring their mascot, Mario. Alternatively called the Super Mario Bros. series or simply the Mario series, it is the central series of the greater Mario franchise. Over the years, it has branched into other genres such as racing games, sports games, fighting games, role-playing games, and more.
History[edit]
The Super Mario series debuted on September 13, 1985, with the release of Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This game was a follow-up to the 1983 arcade game, Mario Bros., and it has been hailed as one of the most influential video games of all time.
Gameplay[edit]
The gameplay of the Super Mario series is primarily characterized by its platform game mechanics. Players control the character Mario as he navigates through levels filled with obstacles and enemies. The objective is to reach the end of each level, often marked by a flagpole or a boss fight.
Characters[edit]
The Super Mario series features a large cast of characters. The main character is Mario, a plumber who often embarks on adventures to rescue Princess Peach from the villain Bowser. Other recurring characters include Luigi, Mario's brother; Yoshi, a dinosaur who assists Mario on his adventures; and Toad, a loyal servant of Princess Peach.
Impact and Legacy[edit]
The Super Mario series has had a significant impact on the video game industry. It has been praised for its innovative gameplay, memorable characters, and catchy music. The series has also been credited with helping to revive the video game industry after the video game crash of 1983.
