Suicidal (/suːɪˈsaɪdəl/) refers to the act of an individual who intentionally causes their own death, or the contemplation of, or planning for, self-inflicted death. This term is derived from the Latin sui caedere, which means "to kill oneself".
Etymology
The term "suicidal" is derived from the Latin sui meaning "of oneself" and caedere meaning "to kill". It was first used in the English language in the 18th century.
