St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College

The St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College is a hospital and medical college located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was founded in 2007 to address the shortage of medical doctors in the country. The hospital, originally named St. Paul General Specialized Hospital, was built in 1969 by Emperor Haile Selassie in collaboration with the German Evangelical Church. It currently has 392 beds and serves over 200,000 patients annually, with a catchment population of more than 5 million. Approximately 75% of the patients receive medical services free of charge. The college is affiliated with Addis Ababa University, Jimma University, Tulane University, University of Michigan, and the Open University. It has over 1300 clinical and non-clinical staff members and offers a practical modular and integrated curriculum. The students are selected through a written exam and structured interview, with a focus on their educational background and motivation to work in Ethiopia. The college prioritizes gender equality in its student body.
