Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu

Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu is a brewery in Munich, Germany, owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev. It is one of the six breweries who provide beer for Oktoberfest, the German beer festival dating from 1810.
History[edit]
The Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu brewery was founded in 1397 by the Welser Prew, making it one of the oldest breweries in Munich. The name "Spaten" originates from the German word for spade, and the brewery's logo depicts a malt shovel. The logo was adopted in 1884 and has remained unchanged since then.
In 1861, the brewery merged with Franziskaner-Leist-Bräu, another Munich-based brewery. The merged entity was named Spaten-Franziskaner-Leist-Bräu, but was later shortened to Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu.
Beers[edit]
Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu produces a variety of beers, including lager, wheat beer, and dark beer. Some of their most popular beers include Spaten Münchner Hell, Spaten Oktoberfestbier, and Franziskaner Weissbier.
Oktoberfest[edit]
Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu is one of the six Munich breweries that are allowed to serve beer at Oktoberfest. The other five breweries are Augustiner-Bräu, Hacker-Pschorr Brewery, Hofbräuhaus München, Löwenbräu, and Paulaner Brewery.
