Solo Cup Company
Solo Cup Company[edit]
The Solo Cup Company is a well-known American manufacturer of disposable consumer products including beverage cups, plates, and bowls. The company was established in 1936 by Leo Hulseman, a former employee of the Dixie Co. in the United States.
History[edit]
Leo Hulseman started the Solo Cup Company in the basement of his home in Chicago, Illinois. Initially, the company produced a small line of water cone cups. Over the years, the company expanded its product line to include a wide variety of paper and plastic disposable products.
In 1950, the company introduced the Solo Cozy Cup, a plastic cup insert that was designed to fit into a holder. This product was popular in households for serving coffee and other hot beverages.
In 1970, Solo Cup Company introduced the Red Solo Cup, a product that would become a cultural icon. The Red Solo Cup is a 16-ounce plastic cup that is commonly used at parties and other social events.
