snuff - A type of smokeless tobacco made from finely ground or shredded tobacco leaves. It can have different scents and tastes and can be wet or dry. Moist snuff is placed in the mouth, usually between the cheek and gums or behind the upper or lower lip. Dry snuff is inhaled through the nose. Snuff contains nicotine and many harmful, carcinogenic chemicals. Use can lead to nicotine addiction and cause cancer of the mouth, esophagus and pancreas. Snuff consumption can also cause gum disease, heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. The use of snuff is also known as "dipping"
