Smithwick's

Smithwick's is a popular Irish beer brand, known for its distinctive red ale. It was first brewed in the St. Francis Abbey Brewery in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1710. The brewery was founded by John Smithwick and has been a significant part of Ireland's brewing history.

History

John Smithwick started brewing Smithwick's in 1710. The brewery was built on the site of a Franciscan abbey where monks had brewed ale since the 14th century. The Smithwick family owned and operated the brewery for generations until it was acquired by Guinness in 1965.

Smithwick's Red Ale

Smithwick's Red Ale is the brand's flagship product. It is a smooth, full-bodied red ale with a rich, creamy head. The beer's flavour is a balance of sweet malt and bitter hops, with notes of fruit and roasted barley.

Other Varieties

In addition to the Red Ale, Smithwick's also produces a Pale Ale and a Blonde Ale. The Smithwick's Pale Ale is a refreshing beer with a full-bodied taste and a slightly bitter finish. The Smithwick's Blonde Ale is a light, crisp beer with a subtle citrus flavour.

Availability

Smithwick's beers are widely available in Ireland and are also exported to several countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
