Slender sole (Lyopsetta exilis) is a species of flatfish in the family Pleuronectidae. It is native to the northern Pacific Ocean, particularly in the coastal waters of North America and Asia.

Description

The slender sole is a small, thin flatfish with a maximum length of about 30 cm. It has a small mouth and eyes on the right side of its body. The color of the body is typically brownish or grayish, with darker spots.

Habitat and Distribution

The slender sole is found in the northern Pacific Ocean, from the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands to Baja California, Mexico. It inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms at depths of 18 to 1,200 meters.

Diet

The diet of the slender sole consists mainly of small invertebrates, including crustaceans, worms, and mollusks.
