Sleepover

A Sleepover (pronounced: /ˈsliːpˌəʊvər/), also known as a slumber party in some cultures, is a social gathering where participants stay overnight at the home of a friend, sometimes to celebrate birthdays or other special events.

Etymology

The term "sleepover" is derived from the fact that the party extends to the next day, making it possible for the guests to sleep over at the host's place instead of going home. The term was first used in the 1960s.
