Sint Eustatius
Sint Eustatius, also known colloquially as Statia, is a small island in the Caribbean. It is part of the Netherlands Antilles, a group of islands that form a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Sint Eustatius is located in the northeastern Caribbean, southeast of the Virgin Islands, immediately to the northwest of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and to the southeast of Saba. The island's capital is Oranjestad.
History
The island of Sint Eustatius has a rich history, dating back to its first inhabitants, the Caribs and the Arawaks, who were present on the island before the arrival of Europeans. In 1493, Christopher Columbus sighted the island, and it was later settled by the Dutch West India Company in the 17th century. Sint Eustatius became a major trading center in the 18th century, earning the nickname "The Golden Rock" due to its economic prosperity. However, its wealth attracted the attention of various colonial powers, leading to numerous military conflicts over control of the island.

Today, it includes tourism, with emphasis on eco-tourism and historical tourism, given the island's rich history and natural beauty. Additionally, the island hosts an oil terminal which plays a significant role in its economy.
