Simone Arianne Biles (born March 14, 1997) is an American artistic gymnast. She is considered one of the greatest and most dominant gymnasts of all time. Biles has won a combined total of 32 Olympic and World Championship medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history.

Early life

Biles was born in Columbus, Ohio, and she was raised in Spring, Texas. She began her gymnastics training at a young age and quickly showed exceptional talent. Biles trained at Bannon's Gymnastix before moving to the World Champions Centre, a gym owned by her family.

Gymnastics career

Junior career

Biles began her elite career in 2011. She competed at the 2011 American Classic in Houston, Texas, where she placed third in the all-around. In 2012, she won the all-around title at the American Classic and the U.S. Classic.

Senior career

Biles made her senior international debut in 2013 at the American Cup, where she placed second. She went on to win her first World Championship all-around title in 2013 in Antwerp, Belgium. Biles continued to dominate the sport, winning multiple national and international titles.

2016 Summer Olympics

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles won four gold medals (team, all-around, vault, and floor exercise) and one bronze medal (balance beam). Her performance helped the U.S. women's gymnastics team, known as the "Final Five," secure the team gold medal.

2020 Summer Olympics

Biles competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where she faced significant challenges, including mental health issues. Despite withdrawing from several events, she won a silver medal in the team competition and a bronze medal on the balance beam.

Personal life

Biles has been open about her struggles with mental health and has become an advocate for mental health awareness. She has also spoken out about her experiences with abuse by former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

Legacy

Biles is widely regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. Her innovative skills and routines have set new standards in the sport. Several elements in gymnastics are named after her, including the "Biles" on vault and floor exercise.
