Shiva
Shiva (/ˈʃiːvə/; Sanskrit: शिव, IAST: Śiva) is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism.
Etymology
The Sanskrit word 'Shiva' means auspicious one. It is derived from the root 'Shi', which means 'in whom all things lie'.
