A Semicircle (/ˈsɛmiˌsɜːrkl/; from Latin semi- "half" + circulus "circle") is a one-dimensional geometric shape that forms half of a circle.

Definition

In geometry, a semicircle is defined as the set of all points on a plane that are at a fixed distance from a fixed point (the center) and are also on the same side of a fixed line (the diameter) that passes through the center.

  • Diameter: In geometry, a diameter of a circle is any straight line segment that passes through the center of the circle and whose endpoints lie on the circle.
  • Radius: The radius of a circle is the line segment from the center of the circle to any point on its circumference.
