Sawdust

Sawdust (pronounced: /ˈsɔːdʌst/) is a by-product or waste product of woodworking operations such as sawing, milling, planing, routing, drilling and sanding. It is composed of fine particles of wood.

Etymology

The term "sawdust" is a combination of the words "saw", which refers to the tool for cutting wood, and "dust", small particles. It was first used in the 1530s.

Exposure to sawdust can pose health risks, particularly in the form of respiratory ailments. Prolonged inhalation of sawdust can lead to a condition known as Occupational asthma, which is a lung disorder generally caused by inhaling dust, gases, fumes and vapors at the workplace.
