SUFU gene - gene that is part of a cell signaling pathway involved in tissue and organ formation, cell growth, and cell division during embryonic development. Mutations (changes) in the SUFU gene can cause cells to grow and divide too quickly or out of control. This can cause abnormal cells, including cancer cells, to grow. Mutations in the SUFU gene have been found in an inherited condition called basal cell nevi syndrome and in a type of brain tumor called medulloblastoma. The SUFU gene is a type of tumor suppressor gene
