Rush Hudson Limbaugh III (January 12, 1951 – February 17, 2021) was an American radio personality, conservative political commentator, author, and television show host. He was best known as the host of The Rush Limbaugh Show, which was nationally syndicated on AM and FM radio stations.

Early Life and Education

Rush Limbaugh was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to a family with a strong legal background. His father, Rush Limbaugh Jr., was a prominent lawyer, and his grandfather, Rush Limbaugh Sr., was a U.S. ambassador. Limbaugh attended Southeast Missouri State University but left after one year to pursue a career in radio.

Career

Early Radio Career

Limbaugh began his radio career in 1967 as a "helper" at a local radio station in Cape Girardeau. He worked at several radio stations, including KQV in Pittsburgh and WIXZ in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, before moving to Kansas City to work at KUDL.

The Rush Limbaugh Show

In 1988, Limbaugh began hosting The Rush Limbaugh Show on WABC in New York City. The show quickly gained popularity and was nationally syndicated. Limbaugh's style was characterized by his conservative views, satirical humor, and his ability to engage listeners in political discourse.

Television and Other Media

Limbaugh also hosted a short-lived television show from 1992 to 1996. He authored several books, including The Way Things Ought to Be and See, I Told You So, both of which became bestsellers.
