The Ripon Society was established in Cambridge, Massachusetts by a group of young Republicans who were inspired by the progressive legacy of President Abraham Lincoln and the moderate policies of President Theodore Roosevelt. The society takes its name from Ripon, Wisconsin, the birthplace of the Republican Party in 1854.
