Red Bull Ring

Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track located in Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The Red Bull Ring was originally established as the Österreichring and hosted the Formula One Austrian Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years, from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1-Ring (A Eins-Ring), and it hosted the Austrian Grand Prix again from 1997 to 2003. When Formula One outgrew the circuit, a plan was drawn up to extend the layout. Re-opening as the Red Bull Ring the track has been hosting Formula One races since 2014.

History

The Red Bull Ring's history dates back to the 1960s. The track was originally known as the Österreichring and was a popular venue for Grand Prix motorcycle racing. In 1996, it was purchased by Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz and got a new name, the A1-Ring. The track was re-opened in 1997 with a new, shorter layout. The track remained in use for various racing series, including the DTM and Formula Three.

In 2004, the track was closed for remodeling. The track was lengthened, and the infrastructure was updated to meet the standards of modern Formula One. The track was reopened in 2011 as the Red Bull Ring. The Red Bull Ring has been hosting the Austrian Grand Prix since 2014.

Track Layout

The Red Bull Ring is a fast and flowing track with a length of 4.318 kilometers (2.683 miles). It has a total of ten turns, with three long straights and several high-speed corners. The track's elevation changes and the fast, sweeping corners offer a challenge to drivers and teams alike.

Events

The Red Bull Ring hosts a variety of motorsport events, including the Austrian Grand Prix for Formula One, the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix, and the DTM series. It also hosts various other events, such as the Red Bull Air Race and the European Le Mans Series.
