ReNu
ReNu is a brand of contact lens solution produced by Bausch & Lomb. It is used for the cleaning, rinsing, disinfection, and storage of soft contact lenses.
History
The ReNu brand was introduced by Bausch & Lomb in the 1980s. It was one of the first multi-purpose solutions available on the market, offering a convenient alternative to the separate products for cleaning, rinsing, and disinfecting contact lenses that were previously required.
Product Line
ReNu offers several different products within its line, including ReNu Fresh, ReNu Advanced, and ReNu MultiPlus. Each product is designed to meet different needs and preferences of contact lens wearers.
ReNu Fresh
ReNu Fresh is a multi-purpose solution that provides a cushion of moisture for contact lens comfort all day. It removes protein build-up and helps to prevent the formation of deposits on the lens surface.
ReNu Advanced
ReNu Advanced is a multi-purpose solution that offers advanced triple disinfectant system. It kills 99.9% of germs and is designed to provide up to 20 hours of moisture.
ReNu MultiPlus
ReNu MultiPlus is a multi-purpose solution that provides a high level of disinfection against harmful microorganisms. It also contains hyaluronan, a lubricant found naturally in the eyes, to enhance comfort.
Safety and Efficacy
ReNu solutions are clinically proven to be safe and effective for cleaning and disinfecting contact lenses. However, in 2006, a specific type of ReNu solution, ReNu with MoistureLoc, was voluntarily recalled by Bausch & Lomb due to an increased risk of Fungal keratitis, a rare but serious eye infection.
