Richard Joshua Reynolds (July 20, 1850 – July 29, 1918) was an American businessman and founder of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a prominent figure in the tobacco industry and played a significant role in the economic development of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Richard Joshua Reynolds was born on July 20, 1850, in Patrick County, Virginia. He was the son of Hardin Reynolds, a successful tobacco farmer and manufacturer, and Nancy Jane Cox.
