Quisp
Quisp
Quisp is a sugar-sweetened breakfast cereal from the Quaker Oats Company. It was introduced in 1965 and was marketed using a cartoon alien named Quisp as its mascot. The cereal is still available for purchase online, although it is no longer widely distributed in supermarkets.
History
Quaker Oats Company introduced Quisp in 1965. The cereal was one of the many products that the company launched during the 1960s, a period of significant expansion for the company. Quisp was marketed as a children's cereal and was notable for its unique saucer-shaped corn cereal pieces.
Mascot
The mascot for Quisp is a pink, propeller-hatted alien also named Quisp. The character was created by the animation studio Jay Ward Productions, which was also responsible for popular animated television shows like "Rocky and Bullwinkle" and "Dudley Do-Right". Quisp's voice was provided by actor Daws Butler, who was known for voicing many famous animated characters, including Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound.
Marketing
Quisp's marketing campaigns were notable for their use of animation and humor. The commercials often featured Quisp interacting with another Quaker Oats cereal mascot, Quake, in humorous situations. These commercials were produced by Jay Ward Productions and were aired during children's television programming.
Availability
While Quisp was widely available in supermarkets during the 1960s and 1970s, its distribution has since become more limited. Today, the cereal is primarily sold online through the Quaker Oats Company's website and other online retailers.
