Quality Comics






Quality Comics was an American comic book company that operated from 1939 to 1956. It was founded by Eisner & Iger, a prominent comic book packager, and was known for publishing a variety of popular titles during the Golden Age of Comic Books.

Quality Comics was established by Eisner & Iger in 1939. The company quickly became known for its high-quality artwork and storytelling. Some of the most notable characters and titles published by Quality Comics include Plastic Man, Blackhawk, and The Spirit.
Founding and Early Years[edit]
The company was founded by Will Eisner and Jerry Iger, who were already well-known in the comic book industry. They initially produced content for other publishers before deciding to start their own company. Quality Comics' first publication was Feature Funnies, which later became Feature Comics.
Golden Age Success[edit]
During the Golden Age of Comic Books, Quality Comics introduced several iconic characters. Plastic Man, created by Jack Cole, debuted in Police Comics #1 in 1941 and became one of the company's most enduring characters. Blackhawk, a military-themed comic, was another major success and was later adapted into other media.
Decline and Acquisition[edit]
By the early 1950s, the comic book industry was facing significant challenges, including increased competition and scrutiny over content. Quality Comics struggled to maintain its market position and eventually ceased operations in 1956. Many of its characters and titles were acquired by DC Comics, which continued to publish some of them in various forms.
