Qualifications
Qualifications (/kwɒlɪfɪˈkeɪʃənz/) are the degrees, diplomas, certificates, professional titles and so forth that an individual has acquired whether by full-time study, part-time study or private study, whether conferred in the home country or abroad, and whether conferred by educational authorities, special examining bodies or professional bodies. The term 'qualification' is not limited to academic qualifications, but can also include professional qualifications required for a specific job.
Etymology
The term 'qualification' comes from the Latin word 'qualificare', which means 'to describe by quality'. It was first used in the 1530s to mean 'to limit or modify something'.
