Putrajaya
Putrajaya is a planned city and the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. It was established in 1995 and became the third Federal Territory of Malaysia, after Kuala Lumpur and Labuan. The city is located in the southern part of the Klang Valley, approximately 25 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur.
History
The idea of creating Putrajaya was conceived in the early 1990s as a solution to the overcrowding and congestion in Kuala Lumpur. The city was named after the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. The development of Putrajaya was part of the larger Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) project, aimed at transforming Malaysia into a knowledge-based economy.
Geography
Putrajaya covers an area of 49 square kilometers and is situated within the state of Selangor, although it is a Federal Territory. The city is characterized by its extensive green spaces, parks, and man-made lakes, which cover about 38% of its total area. The Putrajaya Lake is a central feature of the city, providing a scenic backdrop for many of its landmarks.
Government and Administration
Putrajaya serves as the seat of the Government of Malaysia. It houses the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, known as the Perdana Putra, as well as various government ministries and agencies. The city is managed by the Putrajaya Corporation, which is responsible for its planning, development, and maintenance.

Putrajaya is renowned for its modern architecture and well-planned urban design. Some of the notable landmarks include:

Putrajaya is well-connected by various modes of transportation. The Putrajaya Sentral is the main transportation hub, providing access to the KLIA Transit and various bus services. The city is also connected to major highways, including the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and the Maju Expressway (MEX).
Education
Putrajaya is home to several educational institutions, including primary and secondary schools, as well as higher education institutions. Notable institutions include the Putrajaya International School and the Heriot-Watt University Malaysia campus.
Demographics
As of the latest census, Putrajaya has a population of approximately 100,000 residents. The city is a melting pot of various ethnicities, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, and expatriates from various countries.
