Programming
Programming
Programming (pronunciation: /ˈprəʊɡramɪŋ/) is the process of creating a set of instructions that tell a computer how to perform a task.
Etymology
The term "programming" comes from the word "program", which has its roots in the Greek word "prographein", meaning "to write before". The suffix "-ing" was added to indicate the action of writing these programs.
Definition
Programming involves tasks such as analysis, generating algorithms, profiling algorithms' accuracy and resource consumption, and the implementation of algorithms in a chosen programming language (commonly referred to as coding). The source code of a program is written in one or more languages that are intelligible to programmers, rather than machine code, which is directly executable by the central processing unit.
