Prancercise
Prancercise
Prancercise (/prænˈsɜːrsaɪz/) is a holistic fitness method that mimics the movements of horses. It was developed by Joanna Rohrback in 1989, but gained popularity in 2013 after a YouTube video demonstrating the exercise went viral.
Etymology
The term "Prancercise" is a portmanteau of "prance" and "exercise". "Prance" is derived from the Middle English word "prauncen", which means to show off or strut in a defiant or insolent manner. "Exercise" comes from the Latin word "exercere", which means to keep busy or at work.
Description
Prancercise is a low-impact workout that combines walking and dancing, inspired by the natural movements of horses. It consists of four different exercises: the Prancercise Walk, the Prancercise Trot, the Prancercise Gallop, and the Prancercise Box. Each exercise targets different muscle groups and promotes cardiovascular health.
