Popsicle (brand)
Popsicle (brand)[edit]
The Popsicle brand is a popular American brand of ice pop owned by Unilever, and used in Canada, the United States, and many other countries. It was originally created by an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson in 1905, who called his creation the "Epsicle."
History[edit]
The history of the Popsicle brand dates back to 1905 when Frank Epperson, an 11-year-old boy, accidentally left a mixture of powdered soda, water, and a stirring stick in a cup on his porch overnight. The mixture froze, and the next morning, Epperson discovered the ice pop, which he initially named the "Epsicle." He patented his invention in 1923 and later renamed it to "Popsicle."
Products[edit]
The Popsicle brand offers a variety of products, including the original Popsicle, Fudgsicle, Creamsicle, and Yosicle. Each product has its unique flavor and ingredients. The original Popsicle comes in different flavors such as cherry, grape, and orange, while the Fudgsicle is a chocolate-flavored pop with a creamy texture.
Ownership[edit]
The Popsicle brand has changed ownership several times throughout its history. It was initially owned by Frank Epperson until he sold the rights to the Joe Lowe Company in New York in 1925. The brand was later acquired by Good Humor-Breyers, a division of Unilever, in 1989.
Popularity[edit]
The Popsicle brand has gained significant popularity over the years. It is estimated that over 2 billion Popsicle ice pops are sold each year, with the brand's top-selling flavor being cherry.
In Popular Culture[edit]
The Popsicle brand has also made appearances in popular culture. It has been featured in various films, television shows, and books, often used as a symbol of childhood and summertime.
