Pomona College

History
Pomona College was established in 1887 by a group of Congregationalists who sought to create a college in the tradition of New England institutions. The college was originally located in Pomona, California, but moved to Claremont in 1889. The first building on the Claremont campus was Sumner Hall, which still stands today.
