Polyherbal formulation

Polyherbal formulation (pronunciation: /ˈpɒliːˈhɜːrbəl fɔːrmjʊˈleɪʃən/) is a type of herbal medicine that combines several different herbs in a single formula.

Etymology

The term "polyherbal" is derived from the Greek word "poly" meaning "many", and the English word "herbal", referring to a product or preparation made from plants and used for any of several therapeutic or medicinal purposes.

Description

Polyherbal formulations are based on the principles of Ayurveda, a traditional system of medicine from India. These formulations are designed to improve the therapeutic efficacy and reduce the toxic effects of single herbs.
