PlayStation Move

PlayStation Move is a motion-sensing game controller platform developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for use with the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 4 (PS4) video game consoles. It was first released in 2010 and is part of the PlayStation family of gaming devices.
Overview[edit]
The PlayStation Move system uses the PlayStation Eye or PlayStation Camera to track the position of the PlayStation Move motion controller and the PlayStation Move navigation controller. The motion controller features a glowing sphere on the end that can change color, which allows the camera to track its position in 3D space. The navigation controller, which is optional, provides additional input options with an analog stick and directional buttons.
History[edit]
The PlayStation Move was officially announced at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March 2010. It was released in North America on September 17, 2010, in Europe on September 15, 2010, and in Japan on October 21, 2010. The system was designed to compete with the Nintendo Wii's motion controls and the Xbox 360's Kinect system.
Hardware[edit]
The PlayStation Move system consists of several components:
- PlayStation Move motion controller: A wand-like device with a glowing sphere on the end, which is tracked by the PlayStation Eye or PlayStation Camera.
- PlayStation Move navigation controller: An optional controller that provides additional input options, including an analog stick and directional buttons.
- PlayStation Eye: A camera for the PS3 that tracks the motion controller.
- PlayStation Camera: A camera for the PS4 that tracks the motion controller and provides additional features such as facial recognition and voice commands.
Software[edit]
The PlayStation Move is compatible with a wide range of games, including:
Reception[edit]
The PlayStation Move received generally positive reviews for its accuracy and ease of use. Critics praised its potential for enhancing gameplay experiences, particularly in genres such as sports and fitness games. However, some criticized the limited number of compatible games and the additional cost of purchasing the motion controllers and camera.
