Pinkberry

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Pinkberry is a franchise of frozen dessert restaurants headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company was founded in January 2005 by Hye Kyung (Shelly) Hwang and Young Lee. The first store was opened in West Hollywood, California. Pinkberry offers a tangy, nonfat frozen yogurt with a clean finish.

History

Pinkberry was founded by Hye Kyung (Shelly) Hwang and Young Lee. The first store was opened in January 2005 in West Hollywood. The original design of the stores was sleek and modern, with a distinctive swirl logo. The stores sold only two flavors of frozen yogurt: original and green tea.

In 2009, Pinkberry was sued by Yogurtland, a competing frozen yogurt chain, for allegedly stealing trade secrets. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

Products

Pinkberry's menu consists of Original, Green Tea, Pomegranate, Mango, and seasonal flavors of frozen yogurt, available in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. Customers can also choose from a variety of toppings, including fresh fruit, granola, and mochi.

Expansion

Pinkberry has expanded rapidly since its founding. As of 2015, there are over 260 Pinkberry locations in 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The company has also launched a line of take-home products, including Pinkberry Pints and Pinkberry Smoothies.

Criticism

Pinkberry has faced criticism for its high sugar content and for its use of the term "frozen yogurt," which some argue is misleading because the product does not contain live and active cultures.
