Peace (pronounced: /pi:s/) is a term used to describe a state of tranquility or quiet, such as freedom from civil disturbance or a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom.
Etymology
The term "peace" originates from the Latin word pax, meaning "peace" or "compact, agreement". From the Latin, it passed into various languages, including Middle English as pes, and modern French as paix.
