Pauli Murray College

Pauli Murray College is one of the fourteen residential colleges at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Named after the distinguished civil rights activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest Pauli Murray, the college was established in 2017 as part of Yale's expansion to accommodate a growing student body.
History[edit]
The creation of Pauli Murray College, along with Benjamin Franklin College, was announced in 2008 as part of Yale's plan to increase its undergraduate enrollment by approximately 15%. The college was named in honor of Pauli Murray, a Yale Law School alumna, in recognition of her contributions to civil rights and social justice.
Architecture[edit]
Pauli Murray College was designed by the architectural firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects, which also designed several other buildings on the Yale campus. The college's design incorporates elements of traditional collegiate Gothic architecture, blending seamlessly with the historic aesthetic of Yale's campus. The college features a central courtyard, a dining hall, a library, and various student facilities.
Residential Life[edit]
As with all Yale residential colleges, Pauli Murray College provides a close-knit community for its students. Each student is assigned to a residential college upon admission and remains affiliated with that college throughout their undergraduate years. The college offers a variety of academic, social, and cultural activities, fostering a sense of community and belonging among its members.
