Park City Mountain Resort is a major ski resort located in Park City, Utah, in the United States. It is one of the largest ski areas in the country and is known for its extensive terrain, modern facilities, and vibrant après-ski scene.

History

Park City Mountain Resort was originally opened in 1963 as Treasure Mountain by the United Park City Mines Company. The resort was developed to help the local economy transition from mining to tourism. In 1971, the resort was renamed Park City Ski Area, and later it became Park City Mountain Resort.

In 2014, Vail Resorts acquired Park City Mountain Resort and subsequently connected it with the neighboring Canyons Resort via a gondola, creating the largest ski area in the United States.

Terrain and Facilities

Park City Mountain Resort offers a wide variety of terrain suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The resort features over 7,300 acres of skiable terrain, with 348 trails, 41 lifts, and 8 terrain parks. The resort's elevation ranges from 6,800 feet at the base to 10,000 feet at the summit.

The resort is divided into several distinct areas, including the main Park City base area, the Canyons Village, and the Town Lift area, which provides direct access to the historic Main Street in Park City.

Activities

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Park City Mountain Resort offers a variety of other winter activities, including snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and tubing. During the summer months, the resort transforms into a hub for mountain biking, hiking, and scenic lift rides.

Events

Park City Mountain Resort is known for hosting numerous events throughout the year, including ski and snowboard competitions, concerts, and festivals. The resort has also been a venue for the Sundance Film Festival, which takes place annually in Park City.
